TransFormMission Over Turn - Dead End
I have been really enjoying the TransFormMission Stunticons. They are a great looking group of bots that have fantastic vehicle modes. Over Turn is another worthwhile addition to my growing IDW shelf.
Car mode looks just as good as the previous vehicles in the team. There are unseemly panel lines, but that comes with the territory. The paint applications are clean. The transparent headlights are a much appreciated detail. Rubber sideview mirrors alleviate the worry of breakage. He rolls very well on hard rubber tires. His weapon stores in the undercarriage.
Like the others, transformation is pretty straight forward. It is kind of scary to move the windshields around though; transparent hinges are not my favorite thing. I wouldn't want to crack anything or introduce stress fractures. His lower legs should have had stronger tabs because they fold sideways, giving him a bow-legged look. Like the others before him, his backpack just sits loosely on his back. At least it doesn't swivel out of place. Going back to car mode is not that fun, but it is doable.
I love the metallic finish on his face, visor, and chest. The line work is more subdued than on his teammates, but still adds some visual interest. His face sculpt is my favorite of the group so far. Stylistically, he's closer to Disorder than the other two limb bots.
His head is on a ball joint. He can look down a bit and up quite a lot. His shoulders are on hinges and swivels. Unfortunately, when you manipulate his shoulders, his shoulder panels move up, breaking his form. He can't quite raise his arms all the way up and out to vertical, but can get well past horizontal. He swivels at his biceps, wrists, and waist. His single-jointed elbows can only curl to 90 degrees. His thumbs are fixed and the rest of his fingers are single-pinned and articulate as a single unit. He has universal joints that let him do full front and side splits. His thigh swivels are up at the universal joints and are limited by the sculpt. He has ratcheted, single-jointed knees that can't quite curl to 90 degrees. His feet are on rockers and tilts, but they feel slightly wonky. Maybe a touch of floor polish will fix that. His toes and heel spurs are on separate hinges.
His accessories include his rifle, some combiner parts, and the rest of the pieces for that mini Optimus Prime. His rifle is purple and black plastic, with some minimal line work. Despite using a Masterpiece-styled tab, it sits securely in his hands. The combiner parts are supposed to be better than what came in the box with Powertrain, but I haven't tried them out yet. I suppose I will put together the model kit Optimus Prime at some point.
Over Turn will stand on my IDW shelf next to his team. I have yet to see whether the combined form of Havoc holds together well or not. For now, I'm simply enjoying this set as individual figures. The aesthetic design isn't for everyone. I like them, especially as a group of exotic sports cars and a truck.
