TFC Toys Thanatos - Killbison

Is he tank or an APC? The turret can pivot a full 360 degrees. The cannons articulate vertically and separately from each other. Sadly, the radar dish does not spin. The treads are fixed and there are no wheels underneath. There is some red, gold, and metallic paint to highlight the colored plastic.

Transformation is a pain, particularly the legs. I didn't have any trouble with X-Transbots Andras' feet, but this guy was aggravating. The legs split open much like the Combiner War figures. The combiner feet are hidden inside, but you have to feed them in and out of the legs while working with the hinges and extremely tight ratchets.

I like the head sculpt, but there is only silver paint for the mask. There is some red and gold paint applications on the body, but he could have used more to go with the line work. His eyes are red light-piping. The treads are quite kibbly on his arms and legs. The twin canons give him a nice silhouette. The turret backpack is quite large, but it doesn't get in the way of his waist articulation.

Just like Minos, Thanatos has ball-jointed head and toes. His shoulders are on swivels and hinges. He swivels at the waist, biceps, forearms, and wrists. His hips are universal joints, providing some limited swiveling at the thighs. His elbows and knees are single jointed. His fingers do not articulate. The kibble at his shoulders can be moved around. His heel spurs are on hinges and provide some additional stability.

His only accessory is Bisonbreast, which is a little more successful than Kōmoribreast. He looks pretty neat as a robotic bull. As a blaster, he is serviceable and stays pegged into Thanatos' hands very well. I wish TFC had provided a separate blaster accessory. When used as a breast plate, he seems more obtrusive than Kōmoribreast on Minos.

Although the leg transformation is a real chore, the figure itself looks nice next to Minos. Hopefully the other leg figure won't use the same engineering. I'll be displaying him on my CHUG shelf.

  1. Apparently, he's a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun.
